On December 29, 1846, Iowa became the 29th state. Here is a link to some educational games to celebrate the day. Feel free to let your kids play and learn at the same time!

I’ve been reminded that as homeschoolers we need to be flexible and go with the flow. As you are planning your next semester, remember to be kind to yourself as well as your children. Make schedules that work for the way you teach, and the way they learn. If you are not early risers by nature, then making math happen at 7:30am is setting yourself up for failure. Don’t consider changes of schedule or changes of teaching method, or even changes in curriculum to be failures. Consider them learning experiences, a chance to grow, not an unsuccessful experiment. Remember to be flexible!

I hope that your Christmas was wonderful, and that your New Year is safe. Spend a little more time recharging your battery because come January we jump back in to the homeschooling rat race! Here’s to celebrating our successes of the past year and looking forward to the adventures that await us!
