I think that when you take your child to the doctor they should just provide mom and dad with medication too!!! Because we WILL get it!!!!!!
This week has been crazy. We went on Tuesday to get my son assessment tested and a monsoon came and we were all soaked. Wet to the socks …Hey, those little dryers in the ladies room work pretty well….but not totally well!! Anywhoo… the next day mom was sick, little guy was sick…the big kids were holding strong. I feared school Thursday because Wednesday night I had a fever and was yucky…or punie as they say here in the south. But… My fear was in vain. The kids did great, they logged on and did their T4L with no effort from mom…I too was able to sit in the chair Kleenex in hand and “supervise.” We even got some bible/history done too!!! Yeah us !!
Thank you all for the responses to my posts. I too have been wondering if there were things or great bells and whistles that we were missing. John…is there a tutorial or a ” features” section that explains the entire program. I saw a brief one when we started… ???
Tracy, you said that your kids have been tested also…what did you use? I have been thinking of the Iowa Basic Skills….has anyone used this?
Thank you all for your kind words. John, I am glad that the blockage was found before surgery. I was very nervous about surgery because his white count was ok, but I worked with the surgeon for several years and trusted his judgment. He said that the white count is not always raised in appendicitis. They gave us pictures of the inflamed little booger…..I will upload them if everyone wants to see….. Hey science for the kids…. They are Eeeewie, but not to bad.
First off let me say WOOOHOOO to Z ( and mom) for completing the LA lessons!!! That brings to mind a question about the LA section. Are the extensions a part of the LA curriculum or are they just “extensions or extra practice” ? ( Is that proper punctuation…the ” followed by the ? … I think mom needs more grammar….aaahhhh) Also, has anyone come across the need for using the writing tool ? I am wanting my children to do weekly writing assignments but have not seen where the writer is used?
As you know we are new to homeschooling. We have had the usual objections from parents…they are supporting but reluctantly. On Tuesday my son will go and take a academic assessment test given at our local university, ( the girls already took it last week during the appendix issue) ….so the girls will spend the morning with my mom. Thanks again to T4L I will not have to worry about their school work. Hopefully seeing how great this program is and how much fun the kids have with it my mom will be less reluctant….. I will keep you posted!!
Thank you for all of the wonderful comments regarding my son’s surgery. He is recovering beautifully. I am sorry that I have been so quiet this week, as we have been running crazy. I wanted to share something with you all and see if anyone had a similar experience….
Yesterday morning I was sleeping in…a rare delicacy. And my daughter came in and said that she was done with her bible and handwriting and was going on to T4L. I said honey, it is Saturday and you do not have school…but if you want to that is ok !!! ( Who am I to discourage her… :o) ) I was so nervous this year about homeschooling and that they would not like it. But I guess we are a success…( with much prayer) Now my 7th grader is another story….. ( she is determined that she wants to go to public school to be with her friends…. It is not like we are hermits…..goodness. We do more now than we could have imagined in public school. They have co-op, enrichment days, choir and a FLL club, as well as 4-H…. any suggestions for a reluctant homeschooler?
Thursday morning we had quite a scare. My oldest son woke up with abdominal pain….. not the normal ate to much Halloween candy pain. But lower right sided pain. Both my husband and I have medical backgrounds and that screamed appendix to us. Needless to say we took him straight to the Dr. Next thing that we knew he was being wheeled back to surgery. Thursday and Friday were a blurr. He is home now and recovering fine. It was funny, he wanted to keep his appendix but the Dr. said that he could only give him pictures. He wanted to show it to his friends…he said that it was “good science.” I must say that we are all relieved and praising God that he is ok!!!
Another blessing through this whole thing is that while I was with him at Dr.’s the girls were still able to get school done with T4L. I did not worry that they would miss something. I was able to focus on him. Thanks T4L. They said that he would be sore for a little while and that he could go back to school whenever we said so…he told the Dr. that he homeschooled and the Dr. said…..”well then you can go back Monday” I may give him another day ??? He smiled and said that one thing he missed about “regular” school was that when you were sick you did not have to do work anyway…… :o)
