We received the test results from our local University!!
The kids did about as well as I anticipated. The test was very well put together in my opinion and it offered suggestions on ways to work with each child.Â
My DDD 7th grade did exceptionally well in Reading Comprehension and pretty well in Math Reasoning but her Math concepts were very weak…just as I suspected. This is one of the reasons that we pulled her from Public School. I am looking forward to re-testing at the end of the school year to see how well we have done!!!Â
Just a note to say Happy New Year to all!!! I hope that 2007 was great for you and that 2008 will be even better!!!
We have been on an extended break, as we had a death in the family and traveled to Florida before Christmas for a funeral. I know that the kids are getting restless and will be ready to begin school again next week. My youngest DD today asked for her math work because she was bored!! Just goes to show you that the value of Christmas toys..pales next to the value of a FUN education!!!
AAHHHH the last several weeks have been insane!!! I am sure that I am not the only one….
As if the holiday season is not busy enough I have been chosen for Jury Duty for the month of December. We have to meet several times a week, and I have not been chosen yet…. we will see… I am nervous but I know that the Lord will not give me more than I can handle.Â
The blessing is that I know that the kids school will be taken care of thanks to T4L, they can log on at grandma’s.The cool thing also is that I was able to tell another lady on Jury duty about T4L. Her daughter was struggling in public school and she was looking into after school help, maybe this will be the answer for her…I know we have been blessed.Â
I hope that all of your holiday preparations are going well. We are going to try and make a Jesse tree next week….around Jury Duty, Play dress rehearsals, choir and Lego club….. I will post pictures when we are done.
Happy Thanksgiving to all… May the Lord bless you and keep you safe during travel….and turkey overdose!!! We have been having great fun this week learning about the Mayflower and the history of Thanksgiving. Check out www.mayflowerhistory.com… there is tons of cool info. There are even biographies of the passengers. Mom is learning alot too….!!!Â
Now for the help….. my son had an assignment today using the Odyssee Writer..and when he went to submit it gave him the choice of Jenny 07-08, Jenny test, or Jenny ??( something else) ….I looked in his portfolio and it is there but is not graded and there is no where that I can see to add a grade. Can you tell me how to grade, and also who is Jenny..and does she do windows???  :o)Â
Thanks again for allof your wonderful comments. I am having so much fun using T4L. Â

Just a note to see what everyone is doing lesson wise for Thanksgiving? We are new to homeschooling and I did not realize just how much info there is out there for virtually everything….aaahhhh…where do we start. Luckily we have T4L!!! I think it is so cool that we can access multiple grade levels that way we can sort of search for the topic that we are covering and utilize all resources.
My family is visiting this week and I have a cousin that teaches in California. I can not wait to share time 4 learning with her.  She has a BA in education, but there you have to have a masters to teach….so she runs an after-school program for k-8.  Hopefully there will be some kids there that this program would help. I know that she has all different degrees of learning abilities in the program….and all different degrees of parental involvement.Â
I am also a little selfish….my parents are skeptical about this homeschooling thing, so maybe if she looks at the program and gives it a thumbs up they will get more ”into it.” Don’t get me wrong…they are supportive…but …. How do you other homeschool mom’s deal with that?Â
The kids and I were talking about what we were thankful for….. I am thankful for the privlidge to teach my children, for guidance from the Lord, and for great curriculum like T4L!!!   Â
