My name is Terie, born in the
I am enrolled at UMUC in pursuit of a degree in Social Science with a minor in either Humanities or Psychology (I can’t decide). I have been attending college longer than I care to count but I feel that time will pass with or without me taking courses so I might as well keep going. As a member of the US Military and now as Military spouse for over 17 years we have moved frequently and it has been a great ride so far! We have had the opportunity to live within a wide range of cultures. We have lived in South Carolina (2X), San Diego, Hawaii, Arizona, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Christiansburg Va, Long Beach Mississippi, and now Lee Hall, Virginia.
I love to meet new people and as it is now, I have friends in many parts of the country and around the world. We are a very tight knit family who try to stay as involved as possible with our children’s education. Having four kids, 3 in public schools, is no easy task. All of them have different interests, different personalities, likes and dislikes. This makes for a busy schedule and a house that has little silence, except during homework time—sometimes. Josh is our musician, he sings, plays the piano and is planning to pursue a career in music. Emily is our artistic butterfly. She is very social (like her mother) and very active. She has changed her career dreams from Veterinarian to Art Teacher to Pastry Chef…hmmm. We’ll just let her keep experimenting and see what happens next. Natalie, is 5 going on 13. She is also social, active, very loving and very helpful. She is in Kindergarten in public school but follows the 1st grade modules on Time4Learning. She is always excited to go online and do her lessons. Right now her future is to be a mommy like me. That is so sweet.
My husband and I are both into exercise, eating as healthy as possible without too many limits. He has another 3-5 years in the Navy before retirement. We plan to move from this area in about 2 years but are not sure where the Navy will take us next. The plan is that if we go overseas we will home school our youngest children so that we can take advantage of our time there and travel a little.
As for my other activities—I am a Certified Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer. I work at our local gym a few days a week—helping others achieve their fitness goals and wellness is my favorite thing to do. I also volunteer 2 days a week at our chapel where I teach a Nutrition and Fitness class for the Base community. I host a blog for that group in particular, a blog with family recipes, and currently working on a website that focuses on take care of busy moms. I hope to continue working on that to get it out there but for now I can only do a little at a time. My links are listed below, please feel free to visit. I take help and constructive criticism very well.
